The World Wide Web - Practical Knowledge for Today and Is It All Still Good?
The explosion of the internet and the World Wide Web has deeply impacted
our every day lives with even the most reclusive unable to avoid its
influence. Edward Zeidan from Nerd4Rent in Lafayette will help us to
understand their basic underpinnings and to most expeditiously use these
tools to feed our curiosity, plan anything, tease our fancies, and stay in

Members, known as “friends” in the Facebook world wide community
currently number over 500 million. Twitter, another social network with
added “microblogging” service, is another rocket paced enterprise which
boasts over 175 million users. Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter, said
recently in a PBS interview, that he considers email a rather archaic form
of communication. Learn more even if you are a current “Friend” or “Tweeter”
and, if not, what all this is about and the potential benefit to you of
these new, simple to use communication tools. This class will be

Digital Photos: Your
Memories Captured
Birthdays, holidays, weddings, family reunions, these are just some of
the wonderful memories we have saved in our photo albums. Now see how you
can record these events, save them on your computer and share them with
others all over the world.
This class will show you how to copy digital pictures from your camera to
your computer, how to edit the pictures for lighting, brightness, and
contrast, remove red-eye. We’ll also learn how to crop your pictures, how to
email them friends and family, and much more. Please join Ed Zeidan of

creating a photo album in the age of computers.
PC Computer Maintenance 101
This popular and informative class will cover the basics of computer
ownership. We will discuss the steps to take to keep your computer running
well, when to replace vs. repair, and give recommendations on what features
to look for in your next computer. Mystified by the administrative elements
in your Control Panel? How do you change your settings? Should you defrag?
Introduction to e-mail
This class will show you how to send and receive email; how to add attachments to your email, how to work with attachments in email you receive; how to forward and reply to email; how to setup and use an address book for storing information about friends, family and contacts. We'll also learn about the different types of email programs, and options for your email formats.
Introduction to Skype
Today for a tiny initial cost, if you already have a personal computer, you can
see and talk face to face with your grandson in Seattle or your best friend in
Boston without leaving your living room in Lafayette. Watch your grandson
giggle, point to his nose, or blow bubbles. And no one even has to count
minutes – that is free if at the other end there is another Skype user. If your
old friend from high school in Boston doesn’t have Skype, that phone call cost

will need internet connectivity and a small dollar ticket item called a Webcam.
