How to Create Whitelists and Blacklists in Outlook & Outlook Express

Want to make Spam easier to deal with? A whitelist is is list of email senders you want to receive email from. A blacklist is a list of email senders you do not wish to receive email from. The following are instructions for creating whitelists and blacklists in Outlook and Outlook Express


 

Outlook 2002

To create a Whitelist:
1. From the Inbox, go to Tools, Rules Wizard
2. Click New
3. Click Start from a blank rule. Make sure Check messages when they arrive is highlighted
4. Click Next
 

5. Click the check box next to sender is in the specified address book. Then click the word specified, and select your address book from the list (usually, it's called 'Contacts').
6. Click Next

7. Click the checkbox next to move it to the specified folder. Then click the word specified.
8. Click New, and create a folder called 'Friends'.
 

9. Click OK twice. Then click Next twice.
10. In the Box titled Please specify a name for this rule, enter 'Friends', then Click Finish to complete your rule.

 

To create a Blacklist:
1. Select one or more Spam messages from the Inbox.
2. Click Actions, Junk Email, Add to Junk Senders List


 

Outlook Express 6

To create a Whitelist:
1. From the Inbox, go to Tools, Message Rules, Mail
2. Click New
3. In Window #1, Click the checkbox next to Where the From line contains people
4. In Window #2, Click the checkbox next to Move it to the specified folder

5. In Window #3, click the words contains people
6. Click Address Book, and select all contacts in your address book, then click OK
7. In Window #3, click the word specified, and click New Folder
8. Create a new folder called 'Friends' and click OK
9. In Window #4, Name the rule 'Friends', then click OK to finish.

To create a Blacklist:
1. Select a Spam message from the Inbox.
2. Click Message, Block Sender
